From the centre of Ehrwald we follow the Ganghofer road SE to the valley station of the Ehrwalder Almbahn railway and cycle along the very steep, entirely asphalted route, which is permanently exposed to the sun, to the Ehrwalder Alm (1493m). Past the cable car station, the Almgasthaus and the Gasthof Alpenglühn, then another, short ascent to a forest crest (approx. 1610m), then on to the entrance to the Gaistal. After a short descent, follow the signposts to Seebenalm (1575m). Now turn right up a steep, rough gravel road to the Seebensee (1675m), then after 30 min. you reach a picturesque Hochwald landscape.
The return journey covers the same ground, alternatively one can turn off to the left, 150m after the Ehrwalder Alm, into the "Wiesenweg Ehrwald" (very steep and gravelly in parts).
